724.2 - The seven-speed gearbox was introduced in 2010 as an updated version of the 722.9 – the 7G-Tronic Plus. It was first installed in the Mercedes CL-Class (216 series). Mercedes engineers described this gearbox as more comfortable, quicker to operate, and more economical than the 722.9. The 724.2 is equipped with a new-generation torque converter, which is more durable, quieter, and more responsive. This automatic gearbox also features a "Start-Stop" system. In "Eco" mode, the revs are lower, which translates to fuel savings.
